Title: Little Things to do for Big Storms: Simple Collection Preparation for Tornadoes and Hurricanes

Speaker:

  • David Walls, Preservation Librarian, Library Services and Content Management, GPO

Description:

The size and power of violent storms like tornadoes and hurricanes can make us feel like there’s little we can do to protect our collections. Yet awareness, preparation, and low cost supplies can go a long way in preventing or minimizing the damage these storms can do to library and archival collections. Viewers will develop an awareness checklist which they can use to review their own libraries and archives as well as a description of simple preparations they can use to minimize storm damage to collections.
