About

GovInfo is a service of the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) that provides free public access to millions of official publications from all three branches of the Federal Government. GovInfo provides robust search capabilities powered by expansive metadata with a state-of-the-art search engine. It is also a standards-compliant preservation repository and content management system that securely controls digital content throughout its lifecycle to ensure content integrity and authenticity. Previous iterations of the website were known as GPO’s Federal Digital System (FDsys) and GPO Access. See more information about GovInfo.

What is available on GovInfo?

GovInfo provides access to Federal publications in a variety of formats, including current documents produced and published digitally and digitized historical documents back to 1873. Publications include the Congressional Record, U.S. Congressional Serial Set, U.S. Court opinions, U.S. Reports, bills, laws, reports, hearings, Statutes at Large, the U.S. Code, the Federal Register, Code of Federal Regulations, Congressionally Mandated Reports, various publications produced by Federal agencies, the Compilation of Presidential Documents, the President’s Budget, and much more. View an alphabetical list of collections, publications, other resources, and external partner sites, as well as a list of standardized collections with information about publications and collections of content. Tips on finding information on GovInfo are also available.

How is GovInfo different from other GPO tools like the CGP or DiscoverGov?

Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP)

The CGP is GPO's finding tool for the National Bibliography of U.S. Government Publications. The National Bibliography is made up of publications from across the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the U.S. Government. The CGP is a bibliography, not a document repository. When available, bibliographic records contain links to the online, official, and authoritative copy, which includes content from GovInfo. The CGP is helpful for anyone who wants to locate a Federal Government publication, whether online or in print, at a Federal depository library. Learn more about the CGP.

DiscoverGov

DiscoverGov can retrieve reports, articles, and citations while providing direct links to publications available online. View a complete list of resources that can be searched through DiscoverGov. While all the resources searched by DiscoverGov are U.S. Federal Government information products, the content retrieved from within those products may include non-Government publications. Content available in these resources may change over time.sss
