NASA, in a global collaboration with the European Space Agency and Canadian Space Agency, launched the James Webb Space Telescope on December 25, 2021, from Kourou, French Guiana. In January 2022, the telescope began to take infrared pictures of the universe, ranging from colliding galaxies to stars and nebulas. Rendered into false-color to make them visible to the naked eye, NASA released the images to the public on July 11, 2022. These are the first images of the James Webb Space Telescope and are also the first images of the unseen universe.
