The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) team at the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) conducted an inspection to assess whether the Superintendent of Documents is meeting the intent of 44 United States Code Section 1909 to “make firsthand investigation of conditions for which need is indicated” with Public Access Assessments of Federal depository libraries.

The OIG made four recommendations. GPO reviewed the draft report and provided comments through the Director, which are available in their entirety in Appendix D. GPO concurred with all recommendations and proposed next steps and action items which the OIG deemed to be appropriately responsive; these will be implemented over the coming year.
