Preparing for the Sunset of MetaLib: Update Your Links
The U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) is beginning a systematic shutdown of MetaLib, a federated search engine and a service of the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP).
Your Action Needed:
Please update your links to point to DiscoverGov, GPO’s new discovery search tool. Learn more about DiscoverGov, and don’t forget to order DiscoverGov sticky notes for your patrons!
What You Can Expect:
Links and access points to MetaLib will begin to be removed on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. DiscoverGov users may experience brief, intermittent impacts to the Federal Databases searches as we complete the shutdown of MetaLib. The sunset of MetaLib will have no impact on DiscoverGov’s CGP searches, nor any functionality of the CGP.
Thank you to all MetaLib users for your engagement over the years. We hope you are enjoying our new and improved tool, DiscoverGov, providing you with a unified interface for searching across multiple U.S. Government databases.
