The U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) will no longer be conducting the annual June-July item selection update cycle. Traditionally this was done to ensure that libraries added item numbers to their selection profiles before they became effective at the start of the new fiscal year on October 1. Drops could be done at any time of the year.

Libraries are reminded that through the use of the new tool DSIMS, adds and drops may be made at any time of the year. Newly added item numbers with a tangible format associated with them will become effective October 1. Newly added item numbers with only an online format associated with them, as well as dropped item numbers, will become effective immediately.

Libraries have until September 29 to add item numbers to their selection profiles and still have them become effective on October 1. Any adds to a selection profile made on or after that cutoff date will become effective October 1 of the next year.
