The FDLP Basic Collection is a list of titles that every Federal depository library is required to have accessible for immediate use. These titles are vital sources of information that support the public's right to know about the workings and essential activities of the U.S. Government.

The list of titles was recently updated.

  • The Federal Digital System was replaced by govinfo.
  • The Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance was replaced by Assistance Listings.
  • Daily Compilation of Presidential Documents was replaced by Compilation of Presidential Documents.

Associated GPO catalog records have been and will continue to be reviewed and updated as needed.

The FDLP Basic Collection is also now available in 3 locations:

  1. FDLP.gov > Requirements and Guidance > Collections and Databases > FDLP Basic Collection. This page includes the titles, a description of each title, depository selection information, and information about the FDLP requirement.
  2. FDLP Basic Collection for Librarians. This resource includes the same information as the web page. In addition, to facilitate identification of GPO catalog records, it also includes OCLC numbers associated with each title. To support enhanced access to each title, we encourage cataloging of each individual title into your local catalog.
  3. FDLP Basic Collection: Core U.S. Government Resources. This resource only includes the titles, a description of each title, and background about the FDLP. This is intended for general public access. You may link to this resource from your website, guide, or collection-level catalog record to provide access to all titles in the Basic Collection.
