For over 155 years, the Marlene & Nathan Addlestone Library at the College of Charleston has been a member of the FDLP. On March 4, GPO celebrates 163 years! President James Buchanan signed Joint Resolution No. 25 that authorized the creation of GPO on June 23, 1860. The agency opened its doors on March 4, 1861, the same day President Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated.
The GPO is proud to partner with the Portland Public Library to ensure that the American public has access to Government information. The Portland Public Library is one of Maine’s largest public library systems, is the most visited cultural institution in the state, and has been a member of the FDLP for 140 years.
