Guidance for Managing FDL Collections Safely During COVID-19: Updated

An updated guidance document is now available for Federal depository library staff, "Guidance for Managing FDLP Collections Safely During COVID-19."

This document is intended to provide information to Federal depository library coordinators and their staff on how to safely maintain services to users and safeguard collections during the COVID-19 pandemic. Included in the updated guidance:

  • COVID-19 and Library Materials, including information from REALM tests 1 – 8.
  • Disinfection vs. Quarantine for Library Materials.
  • Setting up a Quarantine Area for Books and Microforms.
  • Accounting for Materials in Quarantine.
  • Resources for Further Information.

As libraries reopen to provide needed services to users, each library coordinator should follow these best practices to avoid spreading the virus or damaging library materials. Guidance will continue to be updated as we learn more about the impact of COVID-19 on library collections.
