  • Learning outcomes: For over eight decades, the U.S. Government Manual been the "official handbook" of the Federal Government. A regularly updated special edition of the Federal Register, it includes leadership tables and describes agency activities and programs of the executive, judicial, and legislative branches of Government, as well as activities and programs of quasi-official agencies and international organizations in which the United States participates as a member. The U.S. Government Manual was published initially as a loose-leaf notebook, its pages held in place by three metal rings; over the years it transitioned to a full yearly publication, then one supported by a website, at last to a web presence with a yearly snapshot to capture its regular updates. With every issue now online, we look back at the publication and bring it up to the present, offering a look at how it’s done.
