Collection Development Plan Updated – GPO Seeks Community Participation

GPO’s System of Online Access | Collection Development Plan has been updated. The plan is reviewed annually and revised to reflect collections added to govinfo in the preceding fiscal year and current ingest priorities. The plan communicates GPO’s collection priorities to the FDLP community, and we invite you to participate in our efforts to expand content that is accessible and preserved through the system by contributing tangible or digital content.

GPO is actively digitizing content, with an immediate focus on adding historical, retrospective content to existing govinfo collections. GPO may accept materials from depository libraries for digitization. If your depository is using FDLP eXchange to list material you intend to discard, your offers will match to GPO’s Needs List within the system (if your account is configured to offer nationally). If you are not offering nationally, you can view GPO’s Needs list in the Needs & Offers Repository in FDLP eXchange, and use the Message Library feature to offer material to GPO (if your regional has approved it for discard and no other depositories in your state or region have a need). If your depository is not utilizing FDLP eXchange, you can submit lists of materials that were not claimed within your region to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. If any of the materials meet our digitization needs, GPO will cover the cost of shipping the material to GPO.

Another opportunity for Federal depository libraries and Federal agencies to contribute to GPO’s System of Online Access is to partner with GPO. If your institution has digitized, or plans to digitize, content in scope of the system, we’d love to talk to you about becoming a GPO partner. If your library is actively preserving a collection of tangible depository materials, we invite you to be a Preservation Steward for that material.
