govinfo is Out of Beta: What’s Next

This message has been cross-posted. Please excuse any duplication.

As GPO recently announced, GPO’s govinfo is now out of beta, and the Federal Digital System (FDsys) will be retired in December 2018.

Reminders, resources, & information:

  • Both FDsys and govinfo provide access to the same repository of content on the backend and will do so until FDsys retires.
  • Either site will provide you access to the content; however, GPO encourages users to transition to accessing content from govinfo instead of FDsys in preparation for the retirement of FDsys later this year.

  • Users should prepare for the FDsys retirement by proactively updating systems and links to point to govinfo instead of FDsys.
  • While both FDsys and govinfo are operational, your links to FDsys will continue to resolve to FDsys, and immediately before retiring FDsys, GPO will enable redirects to govinfo. After the retirement of FDsys, links to FDsys will redirect to govinfo.
  • Links to FDsys PURLs will be rerouted to govinfo by GPO staff. Library staff may wish to consider linking to PURLs instead of direct links.
