  • Start time: 2:00 p.m. (Eastern)
  • Duration: 60 minutes
  • Speaker: Dotty Ormes, Government Information/Instruction Librarian, Hannon Library, Southern Oregon University
  • Learning outcomes: This webinar examines a way to blend resources and to create excitement about Government documents research during first year experience classes at the university level. Dotty Ormes works with university freshmen, many of whom come from underserved populations. She set up an iPad class in the Government documents stacks to take advantage of a variety of Government apps and mobile sites and engage her students with hard copy resources at the same time. Dotty strongly advocates exposure to Government information at an early age to promote information literacy, and her research has led her to write a book that will be published in the fall of 2016: Free Government e-Resources for Youth: Inform, Inspire, and Activate.
  • Expected level of knowledge for participants: No prerequisite knowledge required
