Response Required from All Federal Depository Libraries on Recall Notice

On December 18, 2015, the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) notified Federal depository libraries of a recall of numerous historic military registers from the U.S. Department of the Navy that contain Personally Identifiable Information (PII).

ALL Federal depository libraries MUST complete the Withdrawal Action Form, regardless of whether or not these materials were in your collection. The deadline to respond to the recall has been extended to February 5, 2016.

Libraries that have not yet filled out the Withdrawal Action Form may look at a more descriptive list of what titles and volumes are being recalled; libraries that have already filled out the request may disregard this message.

Several depository libraries have graciously supplied GPO staff with scans of the cover pages to make it easier to identify what publications to withdraw. We thank the libraries that have assisted us in meeting the recall request.

Additional information about recall procedures for Federal depository materials, along with a list of active and archived recall notices, can be found in the FDLP Guidance article, “Recall of Depository Material.”
