Meet the LSCM Summer Interns

  • This summer, Library Services & Content Management (LSCM) had a group of five interns working in various roles to support the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP): one graduate student, two under-graduates, and two high-school students.

    Teresa Mock is currently a second-year Masters Student at Carnegie Mellon University, pursuing a degree in Information Security Policy and Management. She is working in LSCM’s Library Technical Services division, and her projects include research for an upcoming library guides project and performing work for LSCM’s web harvesting initiative. This is Teresa’s second summer interning at the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO).

    Some fun facts about Teresa:

    • She once watched a tee-ball game on the South Lawn of the White House with President George Bush and Cal Ripken Jr. sitting only a few feet away.
    • She travelled to London for a week last March. This was the first time she had ever been overseas.
    • She is an alumnae of the Delta Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta, one of the oldest women’s fraternities.

    Giovanni Salvatori is currently a junior at George Mason University, pursuing a degree in Communications. He is working in LSCM’s Office of the Director on various communications projects, including creating FDLP brochures, social media, and writing for the FDLP.gov website and the FDLP Connection newsletter.

    Some fun facts about Giovanni:

    • He is the oldest of four brothers.
    • He was previously a lifeguard and has played baseball, basketball, and water polo.
    • He does not like squirrels.

    Tiffane Tingle is currently a junior at St. John’s University, pursuing a degree in Communications. She is working in LSCM’s Office of the Director on various communications projects, including blogging for Government BookTalk, social media, writing reports on LSCM’s weekly activities, and performing research.

    Some fun facts about Tiffane:

    • She has performed at The Kennedy Center and The Shakespeare Theater.
    • She originally wanted to be an engineer.
    • Her favorite football team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

    J’Lynn Tucker is about to enter her freshman year at North Carolina A&T University, where she plans to double major in Nursing and Psychology. She is working in LSCM through the Summer Youth Employment Program, and she is also a part-time employee with a major kitchen cutlery marketing company called “Cutco.”

    Some fun facts about J’Lynn:

    • She loves to sing, and cheering is her passion.
    • She is a great peer therapist.
    • Her name is spelled uniquely, and she loves it.

    Milan Peterson is currently a freshman at Archbishop Carroll high school. She is working in LSCM through the Summer Youth Employment Program.

    Some fun facts about Milan:

    • She joined law enforcement at age 12.
    • She wants to attend St. John’s College in New York.
    • She goes to a local children’s hospital to study their asthma program.

    This summer, both J’Lynn and Milan are scanning historic shipping lists dating from 1922 – 1993, performing analyses to determine printing and binding costs for materials in GPO’s By-Law program, and preparing GPO materials for transfer to the National Archives and Records Administration.
