FDLP LibGuides – Free & Available to All Federal Depository Libraries

In the summer of 2017, the U.S. Government Publishing Office (GPO) concluded a pilot project to assess the value of offering a LibGuides page with research guides related to FDLP documents. The project employed the expertise of nine volunteers from academic and tribal libraries in the FDLP as well as a project team from GPO’s Library Services & Content Management (LSCM) unit.

The pilot received positive feedback from the libraries that were involved. After reviewing the results, GPO decided to move forward with a year-long implementation of the program and extend open participation to all libraries in the FDLP. The new LibGuides page went live in October 2017 and so far includes eight guides created by LSCM staff (and counting):

  • America at War
  • Art, Architecture, and Engineering
  • Information for New Depository Coordinators
  • Military and Veterans
  • Presidential Documents
  • Spanish Language Documents
  • Substance Abuse and Addiction
  • The Catalog of U.S. Government Publications

Subject requests are also accepted for new guides. At present, requests have been received and are being worked on by LSCM staff for the following topics:

  • FDLP Content
  • Basic Collection
  • Superintendent of Documents Classification
  • Canned CGP Searches

In addition, the LibGuides page provides access to guides created by and for the FDLP community. Thus far, the following topics have related guides available:

  • History
  • Biography
  • Recreation
  • Health and Medicine
  • Political Science
  • Social Sciences
  • Teaching Resources
  • Reference
  • Arts and Humanities
  • STEM

Any topics related to U.S. Government information are welcome, and we are looking for volunteers from the FDLP community to create guides based on:

  • CGP for non-librarians
  • Native American Treaties

Reach out to our LibGuides team to volunteer!

FDLP Connection Archive

We have sunsetted the FDLP Connection with the July / August 2018 issue and will not be publishing the Connection anymore. We’ve enjoyed bringing the FDLP Connection to the community over the years! You can still view past issues. View full archive (2011-2018).
