Adapting the FDLP Certificate Program for Training Student Workers & Library Assistants

Title: Adapting the FDLP Certificate Program for Training Student Workers & Library Assistants

Speaker:

  • Jane Canfield, Coordinator of Federal Documents, Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico

Description:

With many libraries facing budget and personnel shortages, librarians are frequently depending on library assistants and student workers for numerous library tasks. Each year, I train my work-study students to work in the Federal documents area of the library, and our library personnel are all cross-trained, but without any formal procedure in place. I decided to use the FDLP certificate training materials as the basis for developing a more formal procedure for training. Join me for this session, and learn more about training your library assistants and student workers.
