Page 1 of 5 This module of the Self-Study covers the library building and the equipment associated with the U.S. depository collection, as well as the policies and practices that your library has in place to maintain the depository materials and facilitate physical access for public use.
There are questions about physical facilities, computers in the library, and collection maintenance, including shelving, weeding, and preservation.
This module does not address services and frequently seen access problems related to physical facilitites and collection maintenance. Please see the Public Services module for questions related to those issues.
How your library chooses to address the questions within this module continues to be a local determination. There may be several different but perfectly acceptable answers to the same question. Guidance for evaluating your own responses is highlighted within various sections and also summarized at the end of the module. The questions address situations at many libraries; however, there may be additional or unique facility or collection management situations at your library to consider in your overall review of the topics covered in the module.
