GPO is pleased to announce that the 2013 Depository Library Council Meeting and Federal Depository Library Conference will be held Monday, October 21 through Wednesday, October 23. We are especially excited to host this important annual educational event at the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington, DC.
GPO has been at the same location, 732 North Capitol Street, NW, since operations began in 1861. Our historic buildings feature a beautiful auditorium, a plethora of meeting rooms, and computer labs. We have proudly displayed historic photographs throughout the building, and we know attendees will enjoy soaking up the building’s historical ambiance during breaks between sessions and formal tours.
Acting Public Printer Davita Vance-Cooks looks forward to welcoming members of the Depository Library Council (DLC) and the depository library community to our home. We are planning many special events so that attendees can share the GPO experience and meet our dedicated staff.
This year’s conference theme, “Engage | Innovate | Transform,” reflects the strong partnership between the Federal depository library community and GPO as we collaboratively develop a shared vision and National Plan for the future of the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) in the digital age.
GPO is already gearing up for this year’s special event. Please join your Federal depository library colleagues for exciting educational programs highlighting new formats, new speakers, focused discussions, and the hottest topics.
Register today and visit the DLC Meeting and FDL Conference home page for more information, including the availability of local hotels and other areas of interest. GPO is a block from the historic Union Station, which can be reached by Amtrak and Washington DC Metro.
We also invite you to propose programs that will engage our community, focus on innovation, and transform the FDLP. The deadline for program proposals is July 31, 2013.
The three-day Meeting and Conference will include many dynamic opportunities:
- Meetings of the DLC seeking FDLP community input
- Federal agency presentations and hands-on training
- An array of timely educational programs by FDLP community members
- Collaborative discussions on the FDLP Forecast Study Final Report
- Focus groups on topics expanding issues identified in the FDLP Forecast Study
- Tours of GPO operations and entertainment by our talented staff
We are repeating the success of last year’s virtual sessions and will broadcast several programs for those unable to attend in person. Registration for virtual sessions will be announced when the final Meeting and Conference schedule is posted.
The entire GPO team looks forward to welcoming you to our home for the 2013 Meeting and Conference in October. With your participation, we’ll have another fantastic conference and exchange of ideas, information, and inspiration, whether at our historic DC building or through our virtual training sessions.
