Fall 2009 DLC Meeting and Conference Summary

DLC Members.

Over 300 participants gathered in Arlington, VA on October 19-21 for the 2009 Federal Depository Library Conference and Fall Depository Library Council meeting. The Council, GPO officials, and members of the depository library community heard reports on current and future GPO and Federal Depository Library Program operations from Public Printer Bob Tapella and Acting Superintendent of Documents Ric Davis at the kickoff session on Monday morning. Council sessions from Monday afternoon until the meeting adjourned at noon on Wednesday featured presentations and discussion on digitization, disposal and discard of depository materials, library and information innovation, and numerous other topics relevant to the FDLP.

32 speakers from the depository community and GPO presented educational sessions at the Federal Depository Library Conference on a wide variety of technological, historical, managerial, and operational subjects. In addition, representatives from the Department of Energy’s Office of Scientific and Technical Information, GSA’s Federal Citizen Information Center, and the U.S. Copyright Office showcased their agency databases, demonstrated search strategies and answered audience questions.
