Shelflist Records Continually Added to CGP

The FDLP Desktop serves as a centralized resource for the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP), which disseminates U.S. Government information to the American public through libraries across the nation. LSCM staff is continuing to transcribe and convert to MARC 21 the bibliographic metadata contained on the cards in GPO’s historic shelflist. The first batch of converted records was loaded into the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP) in May. Additional records will be made available as they are converted.

The records are identifiable by the phrase "Historic Shelflist" in the 955 field of the MARC record display. Federal depository libraries are able to retrieve these records for their own use via Z39.50 or these records can also be viewed by searching the CGP. Please consult the instructions on searching for a word or phrase in the 955 MARC field for more information on how to retrieve the records.
