Since 1980, Administrative Notes Technical Supplement (ANTS) has served to inform the depository library community on libraries entering and leaving the FDLP, classification and cataloging changes, and updates to the List of Classes. Depository libraries used ANTS primarily to identify call number and item number changes in cataloging records. Libraries would frequently check the publication to identify issues that might effect their collection and materials, making changes to the publications and associated catalog records as appropriate. Since updates are now made to the Web-based application as needed, the U.S. Government Printing Office ceased publication of ANTS. A final print version of ANTS was released in December 2008. When distributed in paper, each issue was distributed bi-monthly to all libraries in regular depository shipments.

Today, the information that has been published in Administrative Notes Technical Supplement (ANTS) is not as timely as new Internet technologies have emerged and matured. Therefore, after a 30-year run, ANTS has ceased publication and all future updates will be made directly in the Web-based system called WEBTech Notes.
